Completed in one intensive and deeply rewarding year, this degree is designed for pastors, missionaries, Christian educators, church founders, and leaders who are called to go all the way in their theological preparation.
This is not simply an extension of the Diploma. The Bachelor of Arts in Theology represents a significant leap in academic depth, theological breadth, and ministry preparation. WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
The Bachelor of Arts in Theology covers twenty carefully structured courses across five tracks, giving you the most comprehensive theological education available at Levites Bible College.
Advanced Biblical Studies Track
Advanced Biblical Hermeneutics A graduate level study of biblical interpretation covering the major hermeneutical approaches, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to apply the most accurate methods to every genre of scripture.
Biblical Greek One A foundational study of New Testament Greek covering the alphabet, basic grammar, vocabulary, and how to begin reading the Greek New Testament. This course opens a door to the original language of scripture that will enrich your ministry for life.
Biblical Greek Two Building on Biblical Greek One, this course takes you deeper into Greek grammar, syntax, and translation. You will begin to read and translate New Testament passages directly from the Greek text.
Old Testament Exegesis A rigorous exegetical study of selected Old Testament texts, teaching you how to move from the original text to sound interpretation to faithful application in preaching and teaching.
New Testament Exegesis A rigorous exegetical study of selected New Testament texts with particular attention to the letters of Paul and the Gospel of John. You will develop the skills to handle the New Testament with precision and confidence.
Systematic and Historical Theology Track
Systematic Theology One A comprehensive study of the doctrines of God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit at degree level depth. You will engage with the major theological traditions and develop your own well grounded theological position.
Systematic Theology Two Covering the doctrines of salvation, the church, and eschatology in depth. You will finish this course with a complete, biblically grounded, and historically informed understanding of the Christian faith.
Church History One A study of the Christian church from Pentecost to the Reformation, covering the early church fathers, the councils, the creeds, the medieval church, and the Protestant Reformation and what it means for the church today.
Church History Two A study of the church from the Reformation to the present day with particular focus on the growth of Christianity in Africa, the Nigerian church, and the Pentecostal and charismatic movements that have shaped the modern church.
Historical Theology A study of how Christian doctrine has developed through history, examining the major theological controversies, the key figures who shaped orthodox belief, and the lessons the church must carry into the future.
Christian Ethics and Apologetics Track
Christian Ethics An advanced study of biblical and theological ethics covering personal morality, social justice, political engagement, bioethics, and the major contemporary moral challenges facing the church and society today.
Christian Apologetics A study of how to defend the Christian faith intelligently and compassionately in the face of skepticism, secularism, and other worldviews. You will be equipped to answer the hard questions that believers and unbelievers are asking today.
Theology and Contemporary Issues A theological engagement with the most pressing issues facing the church and the world today including technology, gender, poverty, politics, and religious pluralism. This course prepares you to speak with biblical clarity into a complex and rapidly changing world.
Ministry and Leadership Track
Advanced Pastoral Theology An in depth study of pastoral ministry at the highest level covering preaching, counselling, church planting, congregational care, crisis management, and the personal spiritual life of the minister.
Advanced Homiletics A degree level study of the theology and practice of preaching. You will develop a personal preaching philosophy, study the great preachers of church history, and refine your preaching to the highest standard.
Christian Leadership and Organisational Development A comprehensive study of Christian leadership theory and practice covering vision, strategy, team building, conflict resolution, succession planning, and how to build a ministry organisation that outlasts its founder.
Intercultural Ministry and Missions A study of how to minister effectively across cultural boundaries, understanding the relationship between the gospel and culture, and how to contextualise the Word of God without compromising it.
Contemporary and Applied Ministry Track
Faith Based Community Development A study of how the church can engage effectively with its surrounding community addressing poverty, education, health, and social injustice from a biblical and theological foundation.
Theology and Technology A theological reflection on the impact of technology on human life, the church, and ministry. You will develop a biblically grounded approach to using technology for God’s glory in the digital age.
Research Methods in Theology An introduction to academic research and writing in theology, preparing students for postgraduate study at Masters and PhD level. This course is essential for anyone planning to continue their studies beyond the Bachelor of Arts.
COURSE INFORMATION
Duration: One year, intensive.
Total courses: Twenty.
An assignment is issued after the completion of each course and submitted for marking and grading.
Classes are held online via Zoom and physically in Lagos.
Class days: Every Saturday.
Class hours: 4:00pm to 6:00pm West Africa Time. International students join according to their local time zone equivalent.
A Bachelor of Arts degree and letter of completion are issued upon graduating.
An official transcript is issued upon graduating.
You can learn and graduate from anywhere across Nigeria, the African diaspora, and the world.
Instruction is available in English and Yoruba.
